The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to witness a strong Pakistani contingent this year, with a group of players with strong ties to the PSL (Pakistan Super League) making their mark. The tournament will run from August 7 until September 20 and will overlap with other leagues like The Hundred, the ETPL, and the knockouts of the LPL. The Jamaica Kingsmen, owned by Fawad Sarwar, a Pakistani businessman based in the United States, will become the second Jamaican team to feature in the CPL after the Jamaica Tallawahs, who have been defunct since 2023.
The Kingsmen have already snapped up local Jamaican stalwarts Andre Russell and Rovman Powell, with Powell leading the team after previously captaining the Jamaica franchise to the title in 2022. The team also includes Vitel Lawes, a left-arm wristspinner who made a splash on his international debut against New Zealand in Guyana. The squad also features a mix of established and breakout players, with the likes of Keemo Paul, Keacy Carty, Jediah Blades, and Odean Smith.
